"The Sprig of Thyme" is the title of a cycle of eleven folk song settings from Great Britain and Ireland arranged by John Rutter for choir and chamber ensemble: string quintet, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and harp. From a rich ballast of British folk songs both melancholic and cheerful, a selection of songs arranged for choir a capella, by masters such as Ralph Vaughan Williams, Gustav Holst, John Byrt, Donald James, David Willcocks and John Rutter.
